August 14, 2007 Attention: The following text extends to over 900 words - and thus is by far too long. Who shall read all of this? These days, everything has to be short and spicy. What does not fit into colorful chunks that can be consumed in 30 seconds and transferred in high speed on iPods and Laptops has little chance for being noted. Information follows the same rules as fast-food: It has to be quick, it has to be sweet, it has to be slick. We consume content just like sweets. We text short mails and SMS... Comments (0)

November 13, 2006 I had to migrate a multilingual site from Typo3 3.5 to 4.0 and at the same time had to migrate content. I didn't find a way how to do this short of copying all paragraphs by hand, so I wrote one. Comments (0)

October 31, 2006 I just tried Typo3 V4.0.2. I had some troubles updating to the new version, as I had to reinstall some extensions that I had previously installed on 3.8.1. Anyway, once I had made my way through, I was happy to see the perhaps most important feature: There is versioning and publishing workflow out of the box. If you upgrade to V4, make sure you play around with the "Versioning" entry in the main menu and that you also note the "Workspace Selector" in the lower right corner of the screen. What's ... June 23, 2006 I've created BOReportRestorer, a tool that allows to recover a report from the document domain tablespace of a Business Objects Classic (6.x) installation. This is useful if you have lost the original report file. Before a full client report is saved ot the document domain table field obj_x_documents.x_doc_b_content,it is compressed and then split into chunks. The program reads out the chunks and concatenates them, then uses a C library linked in as a shared... Comments (0)

January 19, 2006 Configuring the Epson Perfection 3170 on Linux was not exactly easy. Read here how to do it and how to create a script that allows you to directly scan multiple pages into one PDF, changing colors and resolution on the way for each page. Comments (0)

January 7, 2006 I had great fun updating my system to Linux 2.6.15, X.org 6.9.0, KDE 3.5, OpenOffice 2.0.1, Eclipse 3.1.1... Linux is just the better alternative. Get away from Windows. If you really need a windows application, consider Crossover Office or VMWare. Comments (0)

December 29, 2005 I do like skiing. Yet these days, I keep hurting myself... 3 days ago I dislocated my shoulder two times and replaced it myself, the next day I thought it might look cool to turn a somersault which was technically pretty well done, but performed at about 40 mph led to a torn ligament in my knee - I did continue skiing, as I had to finish about 8 km of descent, but now, skiing is over for some days.
To top everything off, I dislocated again my shoulder yesterday, in a way where I was unable to... Comments (0)
